In light of the devasting impact of the pandemic on many businesses, Congress enacted the CARES Act which created several programs including the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Employee Retention Credit (ERC) that provided unprecedented levels of financial support to businesses.  With many businesses continuing to struggle, Congress expanded and enhanced these programs in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, signed by the President in late December.
