ComplianceHR: 2020 is Already Proving to be a Year of Incredible Change for Employers Across the Country By: TechServe Staff | January 29, 2020 2020 is already proving to be a year of incredible change for employers across the country. By now, you are likely aware that the Department of Labor’s Final Rule revising the requirements for classifying “white collar” employees as exempt from the overtime requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act went into effect January 1, 2020. Also taking effect on January 1 is California’s Assembly Bill 5 (AB 5), which codifies the “ABC Test” for determining whether a worker is an employee or an independent contractor. While these changes are sure to affect many employers, they are just two of many legal and regulatory changes — an ongoing compliance challenge for employers. When navigating these uncertain waters on your own, there’s often no time to determine if a generic template is up-to-date and compliant in a particular state. But there’s good news! Unlike most businesses not knowing where or how to begin, TechServe Alliance members have access to ComplianceHR’s Navigator Suite — an on-demand suite of compliance tools focused on helping companies address the ever-changing federal and state employment law requirements including overtime, independent contractor status, mandatory paid leave, pay practices, and much more. If you haven’t yet launched your Navigator Suite of compliance tools, you can easily access it at www.techservealliance.org/Members/Services and click the “Compliance HR Tool.” Once you see your private dashboard, you can begin accessing an array of compliance resources as a member benefit at no additional cost. With Navigator Suite you can be confident that the results and guidance you receive are accurate and up-to-date no matter what state you are operating in. We encourage you to start the New Year off right by upping your compliance game with the ComplianceHR Navigator Suite.
